The main difference between these two probes is that the displayed ultrasound properties are different. A linear rectal probe will produce a rectangular image with a frequency range of 5-9MHz and a maximum penetration of 15cm.In contrast, the convex array rectal probe produces a fan-shaped image with a wider field of view, but the frequency range is generally lower (3-7MHz), lower frequency means deeper penetration, imaging range up to 24cm, image clarity will decrease.
Linear rectal probes are a better choice for those who prioritize image quality over penetration depth. It is the best choice for checking ovaries, early pregnancy testing and identifying calf males and females during 60-80 days of gestation in cows, or testing the lungs of calf calves.
How to use:
1. How to hold the rectal probe: we can place the middle finger flat on the depression of the probe, with the five fingers close together in a tapered shape, and clamp the probe with the index finger, ring finger, thumb and little finger to fix the probe to avoid sliding;
2. We can dip the probe contact surface with water, apply couplant or vegetable oil to reduce the friction when entering the rectum;
3. During the detection process, we must move the probe step by step, move the probe slowly, and scan the
right uterine horn, ovary, and left uterine horn in turn.
4. When the fetus cannot be detected or the image is uncertain, move the probe slowly and repeatedly, from top to bottom, then from bottom to top, and carefully observe the B-ultrasound screen;
5. During the detection, we can use the ring finger and the little finger to feel the position of the cow's uterus, and the scanning position of the probe can be corrected in time;
6. After the inspection, we must do a good job of cleaning the rectal probe. We must avoid damage to the acoustic lens of the probe, which can be protected by tape. Remember to handle the probe with care;
7. For the installation and disassembly of the rectal probe, we must remember to turn off the B-ultrasound power supply and operate it carefully.
